Dear Son,

Tomorrow afternoon, I head back to Dr. Badell’s office at Emory Hospital to see you. I am so excited to see you! I can tell you have been growing because I feel you move and groove! And, you are HUNGRY!

I’m not sure what to expect from tomorrow’s appointment. I don’t know what things we will talk about. But I want to go ahead and make one thing very clear:

HLHS does not define you.

No, my sweet boy. There already is so much more to you than just this. Let’s talk about it!

• You are beloved son (of your father/me but most importantly, by the Great Creator)
• You are a friend to Jesus
• You are a child of Light
• You are a strong and resilient
• You already are a miracle babe
• You are a gift
• You are brave
• You have a BIG heart
• You a brother to Teddy & a cousin to Lyla, Palmer and Thomas
• You are already known by many people, although we haven’t met you yet
• You have a divine purpose
• You are a delight and a joy to our family and friends
• You are wonderfully made
• You are alive in Love
• You are my son

You see, baby boy, there is so much to keep growing for! You are so much more than this diagnosis. Keep growing. Keep growing. Keep growing. Please, sweet boy.

I love you and can’t wait for tomorrow!
